Arie startte zijn loopbaan in januari 1987 als Cobol-programmeur. In 1994 stapte hij over naar de rol van projectmanager op basis van de methode Rapid Application Development. Binnen RAD specialiseerde hij zich niet alleen in projectmanagement maar ook in workshop facilitation.

 

In 1997 schakelde hij over van RAD naar DSDM als de basis voor het managen van zijn projecten.

Sindsdien heeft hij vele projecten geleid, als facilitator in projecten honderden sessies begeleid en als coach voor andere projectmanagers gefungeerd.

 

Arie is lid geweest van het bestuur van het DSDM-Consortium Benelux en is DSDM-examinator sinds 1997. Mede op basis van zijn DSDM-kennis is Arie co-auteur geworden van het Agile Manifesto in 2001 en heeft Arie mede aan de basis gestaan van de oprichting van Agile Allience.

 

Arie is ook actief als assessor op het gebied van facilitation (Assessor CPF, Certfified Professional Facilitaton) binnen de International Association for Facilitators (IAF). In deze rol heeft Arie talloze assessments gedaan, verspreid over de hele wereld (Canada, USA, Scandinavië, Slovenië, UK, Duitsland, etc.).

 

Tevens is Arie specialist op het gebied van team-performance. Hij werkt daarin met teams aan onderwerpen als efficiency, effectiviteit, racisme, culturele verschillen en het hanteren van de werkbelasting. In zijn werk als facilitator werkt Arie samen met en is gelieerd aan Lorensbergs (Gotenburg, Zweden), een organisatie die louter bestaat uit gedragswetenschappers.

 

Voor zowel DSDM/Atern als facilitation is Arie bekend als spreker op conferenties.

 

Naast zijn hierboven genoemde rollen is Arie inmiddels al bijna 20 jaar actief als docent op de Hogeschool Rotterdam. Hij doceert daar de vakken Prince-2, DSDM, Facilitation, ASL en communicatieve vaardigheden. Tevens begeleidt hij de afstudeerprojecten voor de studierichtingen BI en Informatica.

Arie has been on the board of DSDM-Benelux for 3 years and his DSDM-assessor since 1997. Because of his level of knowledge and expertise in DSDM he became one the original signatories of the Agile Alliance in 2001.

 

Arie is also active since 1998 as assessor for professionals in facilitation known as CPF’s (Certified Professional Facilitator) all within the International Association for Facilitators (IAF). In this role he has been active as assessor on numerous assessments all over the world (Canada, USA, Scandinavia, Slovenia, UK, Germany, etc.). In his role as facilitator Arie is specialist on working with teams on their performance. He will handle issues as efficiency, effectiveness and also racism, cultural differences and managing todays workload. In his work as a facilitator Arie works in close relationship with and is part of Lorensbergs (Gothenburg, Sweden), an organisation with strict behavioural scientists.
